[Friends Filter- minus Angelica. Honestly, if you think you're here, you are. If you're not sure, ask.]

I need a distr- change. Just something small. Something that maybe no one but me will ever notice, even. I'm going to paint my room and, I suppose I could just ask the Admiral to do it for me, but no. I want to do this without his interference.

I'd like it if anyone would be willing to help, though!

[Infirmary Filter]

Does anyone have any experience with pseudocyesis? [She is just stubbornly hoping she's right.]

[Private to Petronilla]

I need your help tomorrow morning. It won't take long, I promise.

[Sveta had been worried for Angelica. But, unfortunately, by the time she was able to get to what Iago had said, it had already been taken down and Sveta could do nothing more than hope the aftermath wasn't as ugly as she anticipated.

...it seemed that hope had been completely dashed. So, as soon as she had a spare moment, she rushed off to find her friend, knocking at the door rather apprehensively.] Angelica. It's Sveta...

[Boris. She had never heard of a boris. It looked ferocious. A little in awe at the creature, at how still it was (stuffed? possibly...), how fond of it her warden seemed of it, Petronilla slowly approached the creature to have a better look.]

A boris. Where did you get it?

No. Not a boris. His name is Boris. It's called an alligator. [She leaned back against the bed, allowing Petronilla near.] He's a...friend, I suppose. Or was.

Alligator. [Not a boris. A pity - she liked the name 'boris' better.]

Was it once alive? Did you kill it? Did you tame it?

[Now Petronilla wanted to know. Did her warden kill this alligator? She seemed oddly fond of it, perhaps she once kept it as a pet.]

He was once alive, yes. He belonged to a wizard-I don't know what term he used- friend of mine once and, while he was here, I found him in his room and saved him.

So now he stays with me, since the man left. [She knelt down and pulled out a some of the boxes she had.]

[Magic! Petronilla knew it - she had felt it in her bones.

Smiling to herself, she crouched down low to inspect the stuffed creature more closely.]

Is the creature magical, or was it just the man?

[Sveta looked up to her.] Oh. Boris hasn't really shown much magical potential. So it was just the man. [She hesitated a moment, not looking at her inmate as she spoke again, instead opting to open one of the boxes. She had been keeping her magic a secret for a while, after all.]

He taught me a lot.

[Petronilla's smile widened knowingly. She knew her warden's secret now, and wondered why it had taken her so long to see it in the first place. Obviously her warden took great care to keep her secrets far, far away from her inmate, but Petronilla should have been paying closer attention. She would have seen.

She gave Boris a pat on the head and rose to her full height, returning back to Svetlana's desk to move more items.]

Were you born magical?

Yes. [It was mostly the truth, as complicated as that was. She began to move things around in the box and, when Petronilla moved them off of her desk, she put them neatly in the extra room in the box.]

And I'm not a witch, so please don't call me that.

Not a witch. [Petronilla raised a brow at this. Not a witch, but something different? Well, there was all sorts of magic in the world. Some of it came from curses, from God, some of it from ancient spirits...]

Then what are you?

A sorceress. [Finishing with that box, she stood up and brushed off her hands, looking around to see if anything else needed doing.]

Witches can use magic from talismans and spells. Sorceresses don't need those things. [It was both for information and...a warning, almost. Not that she'd ever use magic against her inmate, of course. But...the possibility was there.]

[She hummed softly in her throat, mulling over this new information. She knew people who used magick and worked miracles without spells or holy objects - her sister-in-law, for one. Margaret had been able to heal people when she glowed orangish-pink, and she was sure that spells and chants weren't used.

It suddenly occurred to her that her new inmate was a lot like her much loathed sister-in-law. Yellow-haired, well-loved, and a healer as well.

Petronilla coughed to herself, biting back the familiar urge to strike something.]

How interesting.

Yes, well, it's not exactly something I flaunt, so...it doesn't matter. [She picked up Boris to move him aside and resumed her packing of boxes.]

We should be finished soon and then I'll ask for two of your gowns back. What are your plans for the rest of the day?
