[Sveta's back, friends! She's on the deck, dressed as if going to a ceremony. A long white dress whispers around her ankles and her hair falls loose around her face. She looks as if she had been crying once, but has since brushed it off, revealing only a few faint splotches of red around her eyes. She sets the camera down and takes a deep breath.]

Destiny. We're all supposed to have one, yes? We're all supposed to follow it. But I never knew you could change it.

[She holds up her hands to show them. They're covered in a faint white dust which she brushes off quickly, creating a small cloud.]

Chalkdust. [She gives the camera a very serious look.] It might as well be bloodstains. [She reaches into a small purse and pulls out a cigarette, lighting it quickly. Yeah. Sveta smokes. Enjoy that.]

Fuck them. I'm not going back.

[Private to Ardent]

I can erase Destiny. They asked me to erase the Destiny of a young boy.

[Private to Howie]

I'm back. [A soft laugh.] Obviously. He didn't stop me.

[Filtered to Friends]

Give me tonight. Then tomorrow, get me drunk. Or something.

[[OOC: So. Apologies for the Sveta spam again. BUT...Sveta's had a canon update, yay! The details of that will come later! For now, she's just a little freaked out. Also, feel free to spam if you want. She'll be up on deck for a while.]

[After a while, she knocked on his door, still in the white dress. She looked a bit better, as she had time to realize that Maxim was not coming after her and that she was back on the barge...safe.]

[He answered the door, and before standing back to let her in, pulled her into a hug instantly. He needed to make sure she was really back first, but then he stood back and held the door open for her.]

Thank God you're back. [He'd worried a lot, and that... he couldn't help saying it. He had a lot of questions to ask her, but he didn't want to throw them all in her face right now.] Are you alright?

[She returned the embrace and trembled slightly as she held him. As he pulled away, she stepped inside, looking around in relief. Nothing had changed. It was all the same.]

I'm fine. It's just...it's been a long couple of days.

[He frowned a little to himself.] Sit down, I'll get you some tea. You could probably do with it.

[For a second, he paused on his question, and went about making a cup of tea for her,] What happened, Sveta?

[She sat down, pulling her feet up, showing her insecurity.]

It started out fine. A vacation at Tiger Cub's home. But there was something else behind it. The boss wanted me to...change the fate of a boy.

Only I could do it. It was the reason they had been rushing me through training. Only me, Neil.

I saw Maxim on the rooftop and left. [She was well aware that she was probably not making sense, but she wanted to at least get the gist of it across.]

What... were you changing his fate from, and to? [He offered her the cup of tea, then sat down next to her,]

Why was it so important to them that you did it?

[He was trying to prod gently at the right places in the story, as he couldn't exactly understand right now, but wanted to.]

From a Dark Other to...undetermined. [She took the tea and just stared at it.]

I don't know why. I just know what I'm told.

To... control his will? Remove his choice?

[He thought he got it, but wasn't entirely sure.]

What did Maxim being there mean?

To take his choice away, yes. Or to give him the chance to make the choice again.

[She looked up at the mention of Maxim.]

It's a big thing, changing destiny like that. They needed the support...[No, that wasn't the right word.] backing of the Inquisition. [It was a simple explanation for now.]

[Howie frowned for a moment, then nodded,] But you didn't want to rewrite history? Or... take away his ability to decide?

You were right not to. Even if he is a Dark Other now. [He felt so self conscious, talking about her world casually.]

But you managed to leave, even with him there? So... he can't make you go back and do it?

It wouldn't take away his ability to decide. It would give him the chance to make that choice again.

[She placed the cup to the side and just buried her face in her trembling hands.]

I don't know, Neil. It would have been such a Good thing to do. [She spoke about Good as if it was something entirely different than a simple good/bad comparison. It was an entire way of thinking. It was Light.]

[At that, he put his arms around her, in an attempt to make her feel a little better.] It's not really giving someone choice if you just keep telling them 'no, wrong choice, try again' when they don't pick what you want. It might be Good by your definition, or by that definition, [he'd caught the way she said it] but that doesn't mean it's right. I still think you were right not to.

I didn't refuse, Neil. [Her voice was small.] I was going there. I was going up to the rooftop. I only left because I saw Maxim.

Anton was there, too. He was...upset. I could feel it. He had filled himself so full with Power that he could have done almost anything. I don't know what his plan was, but it had to do with stopping me, I'm sure.

But the Boss had other plans. Za- The leader of the Dark Ones had his own agenda. I just didn't know what to do.

Do you think, if you'd stayed, he'd have stopped you? [Howie was trying to remember who half these people were, as she talked. He remembered Anton, though.]

Would you have let him stop you? [From this conversation alone, he got the impression she was incredibly powerful. If nobody else could do it...] Why did you go, though? Because they wanted you to, or because you wanted to?

I don't know. I can't track probability that well. Especially not with this. [She looked up to him finally.]

And I went because I thought it was right. Because the Boss had another plan somewhere else. He didn't say it but...he always has an ulterior motive to what he does.

But I didn't know if I should. [She shook her head.] It doesn't matter. I'm not going back. I'm finished with them.

[He frowned a little, but thought about it. Right now, his priority wasn't exactly with deciding exactly what was moral, but with making her feel better, and there was a question nagging at his mind on her last statement.]

So what... will you do instead, if you really are finished with them?

[She sighed, frustrated, and almost teared up at that.] I don't know! [It was the same question Ardent had asked. And she still didn't know.]

[Instead of pressing it further, he just pulled her into a hug,] We'll find something. Don't worry, we will. It can be sorted out.

But right now, I'm worried about you... right now.

[She wrapped her arms around him again and began to cry softly. She hated that the tears came, but she had missed him so much and the past few days had been hard.]

I know...

[He ran his hand through her hair and didn't let go,] It'll be alright. I'm here, we'll work it out.

You won't have to do it.

[She rested her forehead against his neck and just sighed softly, gaining control of the tears again.]

Thank you. I...don't know what I would do if I had to go back.

Nobody should be given decisions like that. [It was... verging on making yourself God, but he wouldn't say that.]

I'll do what I can to help, aye?

Alright. [She reached up and rubbed at her eyes, moving back to sit down in the chair again.]

I don't know what you can do. It...doesn't matter.

Just... let me think about it, hm? [He looked across at her, still definitely worried,] It does matter, Sveta. Because... you can't end up treating this place like home, so let me think about it.

This place isn't my home. [She was quite certain about that as she picked up her tea.]

I trust you. Okay. [She really didn't know what he could do, though.]
