-74- Posted before she leaves with the Doctor

[Filtered to Infirmary Wardens]

Thank you both so much. It's not my intention to be gone longer than a day, but you know the Doctor. [Since last time he left for "five minutes" and it turned into two weeks.] Well...not you Doctor...the other Doctor.

[Private to Howie, Angelica, Una and Damon]

I'll be gone most of today. I'm...going with the Doctor somewhere. I have no idea where. I hope to be back very, very soon. But, in case I don't, which is more likely than I'd like to admit, I will celebrate Christmas with you when I get back.

[Private to the Fourth Doctor- After everything else]

Are you going to tell me where we're going?

[[OOC: Well, Sveta's leaving with the Doctor. She'll be back within the day, but she's just...understandably worried about it!]]

[Spam for Donny]

[Instead of leaving a note for him, as she had the others, Sveta decided to go to him personally. There had been too much going on for her to be able to catch up with him before, but she couldn't put it off any longer. She headed straight for his room and knocked twice, hoping that he wasn't still asleep. Amanda and Sexby's posts had more than worried her but, while she wasn't angry about what happened, she did see Amanda's rather extensive injuries. And that had upset her.]

[Donny hadn't really slept since the whole thing with Clapet, Amanda, and Blonsky went down. Too much kept happening, and Donny got a sinking feeling every time he tried to relax a little that something else might happen to pile on top of everything else.

He was tired though. And stressed. And doing his best not to get angry on the network for all to see, or giving in to Amanda or Clapet's big speeches. He thought he was doing well in that regard.

He was wary of the knocking at his door, but he didn't want to be rude and ignore it. Still, he had his baseball bat by the threshold, just in case it was one of Amanda's friends looking for a little revenge - if she had any friends at all, that is.

Donny was relieved to see Sveta.] Hey.

[Sveta really wasn't impressed at the moment. She was tempted to fret and worry, but that wouldn't accomplish anything. Instead, she gave him a somewhat hard look and waited, trying to collect her thoughts. She hadn't even thought about what she was going to say, which was probably a failing on her part. But she'd have to make due.]

What happened? [She tried to keep the disappointment from her voice, but was largely unsuccessful.]

[Awh geez, disappointment. Donny knew that tone pretty well. He stepped aside to let her in, because he really didn't want to have this conversation in the hallway.

He'd rather not talk about it at all, but Sveta had a right to know.]

Amanda and Blonsky attacked Clapet. They played a fucking game with him. You heard his post. Stephanie went after her inmate, and I went after Amanda.

[He frowned and pointed to the stitches on his head.] We fought, but it was a pretty one-sided fight. The more she kept throwing herself at me, the harder I hit back. Once...once she was on the ground, I was angry enough to kill her. I probably would have if Sexby hadn't stopped me when he did.

[She walked inside and turned on him, her hands now on her hips. Still, she wasn't abgry, but she was frustrated at his choices. Not that she blamed him for wanting to do what he did, of course. She had wanted the same for Ana after what she did to Damon. But still...this didn't look good for him. And she was afraid of what might happen to him.]

I'm glad he did. Donny...what exactly were you thinking?

[Donny still wished Sexby hadn't stopped him, but he wasn't going to say that aloud. He knew Sveta wouldn't look kindly on that kind of admission. Though his response to her question was to stare at a wall, his expression sort of blanking out.]

I...wasn't thinking. [Well, no, that wasn't the whole truth.] I was thinking that Clapet didn't deserve what happened to him. That Amanda had just set him back months and months by involving herself like that. That...I really just wanted her to pay. Most of it didn't involve thinking though.

[She reached out and took his hand, shaking her head once. She should have anticipated that response, but...still. It was hard to accept. Taking in the state of him once more, the doctor couldn't stay upset at him for too long. Honestly, her frustration and disappointment had dissipated into worry.]

Obviously you weren't. But you have to realize now that...it wasn't a good idea. No, Clapet didn't deserve what happened to him, but neither did Amanda. [She looked a little unconvinced about that herself but no...she had to stay strong.]

No one deserves to be hurt like that, Donny.

[He glanced at her, unconvinced but keeping it to himself. Amanda had deserved it, and then some. Donny wasn't able to agree with Sveta or show some kind of regret for his actions, and he shook his head with a frown.]

Some people deserve it. [It was kind of a cold statement, but he couldn't really help it.] People don't have to like what I did. You don't have to like what I did, Sveta, and I ever won't ask you to approve either.

[Donny let her hand go.] You know this is how I am, right? I'm not really a gentle guy, Sveta. I try not to let things get under my skin, but when they do...I can't stop myself.

[She looked confused at that last statement.] I...didn't think you were that, Donny. I could have guessed that on my own a long time ago. [She just hadn't witnessed it personally. But that didn't really make a difference to her. She had seen worse in her life. She had almost done worse.

She was a little hurt, though, when he let go of her and nervously shoved her hands in her pockets.]

I don't approve of it, Donny, but I understand the reason behind it. I know that you feel that way but...I don't. And I never will. I'm not...asking you to change who you are. I'm just asking you to...think about it first.

[Donny laughed a little weakly, turning his gaze away from hers. Yeah, this felt pretty bad, to say that she was understanding.] I think I've done pretty good for myself, seeing how this is the first time I've snapped like this.

[He wandered over to the chair by his desk, sitting himself down in it and idly playing with one of the nearby drawers.] I once heard...once heard a rumor. The German army thought I was a golem, some kind of vengeful, Jewish monster. [He sighed.] I don't want to be a monster, Sveta. I've been trying really hard not to be that guy I was back in the war, but sometimes I just can't help myself.

[When he wandered away, she stayed where she was, awkwardly staring at the ground. She wasn't sure if she had said or did anything wrong, but she didn't want to make it worse. She didn't want him to think that she disapproved of him in general...just this particular set of actions.

Even though she didn't like Amanda, she was still a person in pain. And Sveta couldn't stand that.

But his explanation broke her heart and she walked over to him, sitting in his lap in the chair.] Donny, you're not a monster. I...I'm sorry I got upset. But I don't like thinking of what could have happened to you because of it. The wardens here aren't really kind about it...especially when it's their inmates who get hurt.

[He moved an arm around her waist.] Don't apologize. Please don't apologize. I know I fucked up. I shouldn't have snapped like that, and I shouldn't have involved you, or Sexby, or...or anybody, really. [This, on top of the lack of sleep, was really making his head hurt. He squinted his eyes a little and hugged Sveta a little closer to him.]

I'll take the punishments for it. Whatever people think is best, if it comes to it. I won't let them take me away from Clapet though - I'm the only one who can help him. [Donny scowled to himself.] Sveta, he was so close. He made so much progress. People kept knocking him down, but he was learning from it, and then Amanda went and did this and...fuck, he was so close....

[Donny stopped himself - before he went and worked himself up again. Sveta didn't need to hear him rant; she really didn't need any of this. He reached over and opened the top draw of his desk, picking up a small, wrapped box and holding it out to her.]

[She leaned back against him, resting her cheek on his shoulder and curling up, pulling her feet up, as well.] No. They're not going to punish you, Donny. [She wouldn't let them. She knew that, if it came down to it, she'd speak out...but it would happen anyway. So there was just hoping that it wouldn't come down to that.]

He was close. And...you still are helping him, Donny. [She took the box absently when it was handed to her, but didn't realize what it was for several seconds. Then-]

But it's too early.

[Donny just didn't want Sexby getting punished because of him. The guy did a lot for him that night - he didn't deserve to be dragged through the mud by the other wardens for it. If it happened, anyway.

He watched Sveta's reaction when she realized it was her Christmas gift in her hands, glad at least for the change of subject. He shook his head, smiling softly as he wrapped both arms around her.] Go on and open it, Sveta. It would make a bad day better if you did.

[Plus he wouldn't mind making someone smile this week; it'd be a nice change of pace. He nodded towards the small box again,] Please?

[Sveta sat up only slightly so that she could use both hands to unwrap the box. When she opened it, though, she just stared at what was inside. Diamond earrings. Real. Diamond. Earrings. Never in her life had Sveta owned anything like them. For a moment, she felt almost selfish that she was happy for these, but that moment passed and...she forgot about it.]

Donny! These are...they're so beautiful. [She wanted to say shiny but...beautiful was more sophisticated.] I love them. [And he did get a smile out of that. Everything forgiven for a pair of shiny earrings, though only for a while.]

Thank you.

[Donny had never been wealthy. Back in Boston he had made his living by working as a barber, and his family had been poor immigrants, so being able to walk into a jewelry store and pick out diamond earrings for his best gal was something of a treat for Donny Donowitz. He had been anxious to give them to her, and possibly more excited for her reaction than she had been to receive them.

Watching her reaction, he felt happy. It was the best thing that had happened to him all week.]

I'm real glad, Sveta. You're welcome. [He knew the smile wasn't going to stick around for too much longer, so he allowed him to revel in it for as long as he could.]

[She moved out of his lap and took the box to the nearest mirror to try them out. They didn't really go well with her jeans and sweater outfit, but she didn't care. She was going to feel pretty, if only for a while.

Once she had them in, she tied her hair back loosely from her face and turned to face him.]

What do you think? [The smile could stay a while longer. She still had yet to tell him about her trip...and she knew that wouldn't be an easy topic to discuss. But at least she was feeling better about him and what had happened. She wasn't so upset and, while she was still disappointed, she had moved back to worrying about him should Amanda get herself loose.]

[He was absolutely thrilled that she liked them, and watched with a smile on his face while she tried them on. He nodded, thinking they suited her just perfectly.] Beautiful. [Pronounced Bee-yoo-tiful, because this was Donny.]

Oh! And I got you these too. [Donny began to rummage through the drawer again, eventually pulling out a small, clear plastic bag with a bow on it. He handed it to her.] I was gonna give you these (http://ny-image3.etsy.com/il_fullxfull.82286783.jpg) in the nice box, as like a joke or something, but I didn't have the time. I thought maybe you could wear 'em when you wanted to be less fancy.

[She took the bag when it was offered and just giggled to herself, shaking her head. It was nice to forget bad things...just for a while. It made her feel better about life, which meant that the bad things, when they came back, would be easier to bear.]

Thank you, Donny. [She took out the diamond earrings and put them in the box, replacing them with the button ones.] I think I will wear these today instead and...save the others for something special. [She was tempted to shake her head to hear them jingle but...no. No that was too much. Instead, she wrapped her arms around his neck and gave him a kiss.]

You're not getting off that easy, you know. [But she was halfway teasing now, at least.] And there's one more thing that I have to tell you.

Re: Spam

[He returned the kiss with a big grin plastered on his face, happy that she seemed happy. Even when everything was terrible, Sveta usually cheered him upin some way. He was grateful for it, and was glad that she seemed to be understanding about the stuff he was most ashamed of. She didn't think he was a monster, even though she knew what she knew.

Donny held on to her tightly, raising a brow.]

I know I'm not, but it softens the blow. And tell me what?

It does. But I think that...there's really nothing to add about that. You know that I'm not happy with what happened. But it doesn't...change anything. I promise. [She had to admit that it did soften the blow, at least. She moved back into his lap, as it was more comfortable than the position she was currently in, and reached up a free hand to play idly with the end of the earrings he had given her.]

I'm going with the Doctor today on a trip. I should be back...later in the evening. [Hopefully. If things went right.]

[Donny laughed a little to himself, all that while that promise of hers still ringing in his ears. It doesn't change anything. Suddenly he felt much more relieved.] A trip with the Doctor? Sounds....[Dangerous. Zany. Mind-boggling.] Fun. [Yeah, all of those things.]

That sounds fun, Sveta. Not that I think he won't, but make sure he takes good care of you.

It will be an adventure, really. [But that's what she was hoping for.] That's why I'm dressed like this. [Sveta normally wore a business suit under her lab coat when she was working, or other nice clothes when she wasn't. But Martha's advice was still with her and she trusted the woman above all else when it came to Doctors.

Donny got another kiss from her as she again rested against his shoulder.]

I'll come and see you first thing when I get back, alright? [And her voice got a little firmer. She was happy to have heard him laugh, but she still had to add something.]

Stay out of trouble.

[Donny had zero eye for fashion, but he nodded and pretended like he understood. Casual wear for adventures - the nice stuff would probably get ruined if she wore it out with the Doctor.

He raised a hand to brush against her cheek, accidentally hitting the earrings and making himself smile again. At her final word of caution though, Donny sobered up fairly quickly. He nodded,] I promise, I'll stay out of trouble.

[And he would. He wouldn't break that promise to her.]

[And she believed him when he said it. She wanted to enjoy her trip with the Doctor and, though she was going to miss Donny terribly, she also didn't want to spend it worrying about whether or not he was going to keep out of trouble.

Moving out of his lap, she turned to give him a proper kiss.]

Then I should go, because I think we're leaving early. [She paused.] I'll miss you.

[He pulled her close for the kiss, holding on to her tightly until she was out of his reach. He sighed, sinking down a little in his chair.]

You won't be gone for that long, Sveta. Go have some fun already. [He smiled though, and added quietly,] I'll miss you too.
