-69- Because someone has to have fun with this flood

This isn't really a bad thing, is it? Why does it have to be lying? You don't have to see it as a bad thing. Make up something fun and outrageous! Have a different life for a while.

I told a friend that I went on vacation on an island after he bought an elephant to swim in his pool. It's obviously not true, so you know not to believe me. But it's fun, too.

We might as well try to get into the holiday spirit in our own way, instead of it being forced on us. We have to take what we can get and make it better.

I'll meet you up there in...an hour?

Yeah, sure! I'll be right up.

[She hurried to get dressed and headed up to the deck, glad to snatch a few hours of free time away. Stepping outside, she jammed her hat on her head and tucked her hair underneath it. The snow crunched under her feet and she kicked it up playfully.]

[Donny was all bundled up - coat, scarf, and the woolen gloves and hat his mother had made for him before he shipped out, and was spending his time waiting for Sveta to show up by looking at all the snowmen and lumps that had been formerly snowmen on the deck. He wandered the length of the deck before he spotted Sveta, and he waved to her as he hurried over to her.]

How about this snow, eh? [He grinned.]

[She giggled and put a finger to her lips.] I hate it. [Shaking her head, she reached over with her own pink gloved hands and looped an arm through his.]

Don't ask questions, Donny! I have to lie...this flood is ridiculous.

[What the-] Oh, right, the flood! [Donny laughed and stuck his hands into his pockets, keeping better hold of Sveta's arm through his. What a dumb flood this was, but at least it wasn't something else. It could always be so much worse.]

This flood is fahkin' ridiculous. Yeesh. I was wondering what was wrong with everyone.

[She continued to kick uP snow as she walked, snuggling close to him.] I guess it could be worse. I talked to Damon today. He doesn't seem to be affected yet.

Not that you can really tell the difference.

[He smiled as she moved closer to him.] Yeah...I think that's what's confusing me. Lotta people on this boat who are natural liars.

I like this hat, by the way. [He gave an awkward poke to the top of her head.]

Leave my hat alone. You're just jealous. [She pulls it down more over her ears and gives him a roll of her eyes.]

That's why I make up ridiculous lies so that you know I'm lying. I don't really like it. Goes against my nature.

Yeah, I am jealous. Real jealous. [He smirked and leaned forward a little, quickly pecking her on the cheek.]

And I know. It must be a pain in the ass. I'll make sure not to ask you any questions while I'm with you. Everything'll be a statement, just watch.

[She leaned into the quick kiss and then moved away to lean down and gather the snow in her gloved hands.] I don't believe you. [Pause.] How have you been? [It seemed safe to ask him questions.]

Not too bad, actually. [Though now he's skeptical of that snow in Sveta's hands. If she formed it into a ball he was going to make a break for it.] Despite Clapet getting gutted, it's been alright. Judas woke up in time for the last night of Hanukkah, Costigan came back from wheahevah the fuck he had gone...not bad.

[For the moment, the snow in her hands was just that...snow. She gathered it together and just threw it up in the air before brushing off her gloves. It was just nice to be out in the snow.] I'm glad your friend came back. I know that can be hard. [She gathered more snow off the railing, though now she was being sneaky. Or trying to be...]

[Some of the snow fell into Donny's face, and quickly brushed it off his nose before it froze.] Yeah, and he came back with his memories too. It's wicked rare when things work out.

Oh, I know. Like you said, it's nice when it works out. [That said, she grabbed the handful she had been gathering and threw it towards him with a giggle.]

[The snow hit him right in the shoulder, and he frowned and batted it off of his coat with an annoyed grunt.] I knew you were gonna throw snow at me. I just knew it.

You know this means war, right?

Then... Bring it on! [She gave him a sly look before quickly turning and running along the railing through the snow, scooping it up as best she could.]

[Donny only waited a second before springing into action, crouching down to grab some snow and then running off to find a good hiding spot. He picked a larger, huskier-looking snowman and ducked behind it, packing the snow in his hands into a ball.]

[Sveta found herself something that was once a snowman but now was just a lump. But it was a lump that would serve her well. She had a little snow in her hands from before and so quickly jumped out from behind her "castle" and threw it towards him, though she really wasn't aiming.]

You can't hide!

[Donny cackled when the snow thrown his way missed him. He poked his head and arm out from behind his fort and lobbed the snowball her way, not caring if it struck her or not.]

[That one did manage to hit, but she brushed it off her coat before giving up on the trying to hide. Trying to be sneaky, she packed herself a snowball that she could carry and just moved from behind her refuge and ran towards him, throwing it once she felt she was close enough.]

[The snowball didn't exactly hit him directly, though it did smack into the snowman's head and cover Donny's face in snow dust as it broke apart. He coughed and wiped the snow out of his eyes, smirking and grabbing another soft handful of snow to toss her way.]

[Giggling, she dodged that one and tried to move out of the way, as if she was in some kind of action movie. Only without the rolling. Rolling was difficult in snow. But her aim was no longer the snowballs.

Instead, she moved to knock over the snowman itself.]

No! My fort! [Donny stomped out of the way - or tried to anyway, picking up handfuls of snow to toss her way and hopefully prevent her from knocking over Frosty the Fort.]

A man's snow fort is his castle, yaknow!

[She giggled and covered her head, though she continued to knock it down.] I...have found your...weakness! [she told him through the onslaught. She ducked her head down more and just gave it a big shove as best she could.]
